And in both cases I recognised fairly early in the project that it was going to require more work than initially quoted, so I was able to offer a few options to the client so they could still have a positive outcome within budget. With requests for lots of changes (because the other aspect of that is that I want my clients to be totally satisfied with the end result) this usually results in negotiating an extra fee. However I have to admit that once I have quoted a fee for the whole project, it doesn't always sit well with me to ask for more money. I have always found this a bit of a stumbling block.
